I want to use this kit as the DAC’s digital circuit regulator, so I personally decide to use Sanyo os-con 10uf/25V in C3, C8. Sanyo os-con has very short response time and it’s very suitable for the digital circuit. In the analog circuit it will easily cause the treble sounded too slim.

Capacitors have major influence to the sound. I’ve tried a lot of capacitors before, so I will be very cautious at this point. Personally I recommend Nippon Chemi-con, Nichicon Muse series, Vishay BC components. They are easy to buy and cost not too high in Taiwan. Of course they sound good.

 

Here is the picture of all the components.( I missed 2 general purpose diode)

 

Let’s start with the lowest parts. (Resistors, diodes, rectifiers)

 

Then we place Wima, Sanyo os-con, SVR, 2-pin terminal blocks, LM 317T, aluminum capacitors on the PCB in order.

 

For the huge size of Nichicon KZ series, I have no choice but give up the original heat sink. I used smaller heat sinks here.

 

We can also use the kit to be a +/- DC output regulator. The pro is both LM317Ts have exactly the same characteristics than using LM317T + LM337T. All we have to do is to create a shot circuit in spot A which is shown below.
